Join us for four workshop sessions focusing on the ins and outs of photographing live music under stage lights. This fast-paced approach to photography combines low-light photography techniques and considerations unique to shooting a live musical performance. The workshop series includes an opportunity to flex your new-found skills at an actual event featuring a band of professional musicians.
You must sign up for each session separately. You do not have to sign up for all four sessions.
Session 1 – Introduction to Low Light Photography

Session 2 – Introduction to Live Music Photography

Low light and high action! Learn the techniques and nuances of live music photography. We’ll cover everything from lenses to etiquette as we take a close look at a cross section of great live music photographs taken in a variety of contexts. Instructor: Stacey Dowswell
Session 3 – Live Music Photography Session

Put your live music photography skills to the test at an actual live music performance with a full band. Entry to the performance is provided. This session will take place at The Alpine, 2872 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M6P 1Y8.
Session 4 – Reviewing and Editing for Low Light and Live Music

Share your live music shooting experience! Talk about challenges and achievements from the night. Instructors will also discuss editing techniques that can help solve common problems like noise, blur, and approaches that will help you capitalize on the contrast and mood unique to stage lighting.
