Open Executive Positions – Fall 2025

The Hart House Camera Club is currently recruiting two new executive positions. See below for the detailed description.


ABOUT HART HOUSE CAMERA CLUB

Founded in 1919, the Hart House Camera Club (HHCC) is one of North America’s oldest student photography clubs. HHCC embraces accessible and equal opportunities for learning by having the membership open to all with no prior experience or portfolio needed. HHCC’s mission is to help people understand photography as a powerful communication tool and help our members improve and deepen their photography skills by providing various programs including Photo Walks, Critical Salons, talks, presentations and workshops covering various darkroom processes.

Our Darkroom offers chemicals and tools for members to develop black-and-white film and create prints from negatives. Our Digital Suite is used for scanning negatives and photo editing.


EVENTS REPRESENTATIVE

Position Responsibilities:

  • Organize and run social events once a month in Hart House (board games nights, movie nights, etc.).
  • Run collaborative events or external events planned outside of monthly socials, once a semester.
  • Act as a primary lead for socials both for attendees and HH staff.
  • Collaborate with HHCC executives and HH staff to promote the photo walks.
  • Attend regular internal meetings to align with the club’s updates and initiatives.
  • Volunteer for club activities and initiatives.

Preferred Qualities:

  • Ability to be sociable and friendly to Camera Club members.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable.

Time commitment per month: 3 hours


PHOTO WALK FACILITATOR

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize routes for photo walks in collaboration with the Photo Walk Facilitator and HH staff.
  • Lead the monthly photo walks at various locations in Toronto.
  • Act as a primary lead for photo walks both for attendees and HH staff.
  • During the walks, check registrations and event attendance.
  • Collaborate with HHCC executives and HH staff to promote the photo walks.
  • Attend regular internal meetings to align with the club’s updates and initiatives.

Preferred Qualities:

  • Knowledge of/ideas for different Toronto neighbourhoods and locations with interesting photography opportunities.
  • Experience leading workshops or tours is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Comfortable leading groups.
  • Leadership and coordination skills.
  • Multitasking capability, especially in outdoor settings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Time commitment per month: 4 hours (each monthly walk lasts appr. 2-3 hours)
